Yangzhou East High-speed Railway Station

Won the 2024 Best Practice Award of the APEC Urban Sustainable Development and Technology Innovation Competition

The Yangzhou East High-speed Railway Station project, jointly designed by Yi Architecture/Atelier-i and China Railway Shanghai Design Institute Group, won the "Best Practice Award" of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Urban Sustainable Development and Technology Innovation Competition (2024), which fully reflects the firm's pioneering exploration and innovation practice guided by the concept of "holistic architecture" and resilience in the context of "dual carbon".

The project adopts a high-performance structural system composed of honeycomb steel beams and stainless steel composite purlins, which saves 30% of the material, reduces the weight of the structure by one-third, and saves about 15% of the basic cost. The spatial form is inspired by the traditional gardens of Yangzhou, with hexagonal geometry running through the structure and façade, and the building is like a "growing tree", responding to the local culture and building a resilient transportation portal integrating traffic efficiency, ecological low-carbon and humanistic perception.
