Atelier-i was officially shortlisted for the Grand Paris project
We are pleased to announce that Illimite Architectes (Atelier-i) has been selected as a partner of the Greater Paris Initiative, a major urban development initiative led by Société du Grand Paris and its partners. At the same time, Renzo Piano, MAD Ma Yansong, Kengo Kuma, Foster and other internationally renowned firms were also shortlisted.
In June 2022, the Société du Grand Paris and its partners launched a tender for architects and landscape architects to select interested partners to participate in the development of urban and real estate projects in the vicinity of the Grand Paris Rapid Rail station. In a bidding process involving thousands of institutions, 518 architecture and landscape architecture firms were selected as partners, with only 43 being outside France.
The Greater Paris Rapid Rail Project is a visionary urban development project that aims to create a more sustainable and livable metropolitan area of Paris. The project includes, first, the construction of a new metro system connecting the suburbs with the city centre, and secondly, the development of new community and urban spaces around the metro stations. The project is expected to create 100 new projects with a total gross floor area of 10 million square feet, including 8,000 residential units and 4 million square feet of commercial and service space, and is expected to be completed by 2030.
